Recuperator installation across Cyprus Fresh air, without losing your heating or cooling.
A Europlast recuperator — a heat recovery ventilation unit — exchanges the stale air in a room for filtered fresh air continuously, and recovers up to 90 percent of the energy as it does so. Your warmth stays in through the winter and your cooled air stays in through the summer.
- Up to 90% of your heating and cooling stays inside
- Filtered fresh air in the room, 24 hours a day
- One 156 mm hole per room. No ductwork and no ceiling work
From €500 per room, installed · Each room done in a single day
The problem
A closed home runs out of fresh air.
Windows stay shut against the heat in summer and the cold in winter. With nothing replacing it, the same air is breathed, cooked in and showered in all day. It turns stale, it holds moisture, and the only way to clear it is to open a window and give away the temperature you have paid to reach.
Air that never changes
With the windows closed, nothing renews the air in the room. It grows stale and humid, and the room feels airless long before anyone thinks to open a window.
Moisture on cold surfaces
Humid indoor air meets cold glass and cold walls and turns back into water. Left there through the winter, that is where mould begins.
Temperature lost at the window
Opening a window does bring fresh air in. It also sends your heating out in winter and your cooled air out in summer, and the room is stale again within the hour.
Comparison
Three ways to get fresh air. One keeps your temperature.
Every home has to replace its air, and a dehumidifier does not replace anything. It removes some water from the same stale air and warms the room while it works. The real question is what fresh air costs you.
| Open a window | Dehumidifier | RSC unit | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brings in fresh air | Yes | No | Yes |
| Keeps your heating and cooling in | No | Yes | Yes |
| Runs continuously, unattended | No | Yes | Yes |
| Costs to run | Your heating and cooling | 200 to 400 W | 1.8 to 3.7 W |
| Filters the air coming in | No | No | Yes |
Opening a window does bring fresh air in, and it takes your heating or your air conditioning straight out with it. A heat recovery unit is the only one of the three that gives you both at once: air that is genuinely replaced, and a room that stays at the temperature you set.
How it works
One hole. The air is replaced, the temperature is kept.
The unit sits inside a single core-drilled hole in your external wall. It runs continuously, and reverses direction every sixty to seventy seconds, so fresh air arrives without the room changing temperature.
The fan reverses every 60 to 70 seconds, around 1,300 times a day
In Cyprus the summer case is the one that matters most. From May to October the unit is protecting the cooling you are paying for, not the heating.

The unit we install
Europlast EER150
A Latvian-manufactured heat recovery unit with a ceramic regenerator and washable EU1 filters on both the supply and extract sides. We specify the 150 mm model as standard, because the larger core moves more air and runs quieter at low speed.

S is a wall switch. WP is a cable with a pull cord. SA is the anthracite finish. Same hardware inside all three. The telescopic body fits walls from 300 to 555 mm.
The install
Each room is done in a single day.
There is no need to move out or empty the room. We work in one room at a time and leave it clean.
Survey
We assess each room, work out where the air is worst, and mark the unit positions with you.
Core drill
A single hole through the external wall, set at a slight outward fall so any condensation drains away from the building.
Electrical connection
Wired into the room circuit with its own isolating switch. Nothing else in your installation changes.
Commissioning
We verify airflow and noise levels in the room with you present, then hand over.
No ductwork, no false ceilings, and nothing else in the property is opened up.
Installed
One grille inside. One cap outside.
The unit sits flush in the wall and the room carries on as it was. There is no box on show, no pipework across the ceiling and nothing to build around it.
These are visualisations built from our own installation, showing the unit in typical Cyprus rooms. We are replacing them with photographs of completed jobs as the portfolio grows.
Price
From €500 per room, installed.
€500
per room
Covers the Europlast EER150, the core drill, the electrical connection and commissioning. Most clients start with the bedroom or the living room and extend to other rooms later.
€20
per room, each year
The annual service. We wash the filters and vacuum the ceramic core so the unit keeps recovering heat at its rated efficiency. Optional, and yours to decide.
The final figure depends on wall thickness and access. Surveying and quoting are free, and there is no obligation to proceed.
For builders and developers
Air quality is the upgrade buyers can feel.
Condensation and stale air are among the most common reasons a buyer contacts a developer after handover, and engineered ventilation is still rare in Cyprus housing. One hole per room fits any build stage, requires no design changes, and gives you a specifiable line item that also reduces the cooling load on the unit. Since March 2026 Cyprus requires mechanical installation studies with building permit applications, so this is the direction the regulations are already taking.
Common questions
What clients ask us first.
Is a recuperator the same as heat recovery ventilation?
Yes. Recuperator is the word used across Eastern Europe, and by most people in Cyprus, for what English calls a heat recovery ventilator or MVHR. It is the same device: it draws stale air out, brings filtered fresh air in, and passes the temperature from one to the other so you keep it. Europlast calls the EER150 a recuperator, and so do we.
Does it make sense in a mild climate like Cyprus?
Yes, and summer is the reason. The objection you will read online is that heat recovery needs a big temperature difference, and Cyprus winters are mild. But the gap that matters here is the August one: 24°C indoors on air conditioning against 36°C outside is a twelve degree difference, wider than a winter day in much of Europe. Open a window onto that and you are paying to cool the street. The other half of the answer is that recovery is not why you ventilate in the first place. A closed Cyprus home builds up humidity, CO₂ and mould on cold surfaces, and the air outside carries dust, pollen and insects. The unit deals with that first, and keeps your temperature while it does it.
Will it make my home cold in winter?
No. The ceramic core holds up to 90 percent of the heat that would otherwise leave with the stale air and hands it back to the fresh air coming in. That is the entire point of the unit.
What about summer and the air conditioning?
The cycle works in both directions. In summer the core is chilled by the conditioned air on its way out, then tempers the hot air on its way in, so the unit lowers the load on your air conditioning rather than adding to it.
How loud is it?
19 dB on speed one, which sits below a quiet room. 32 dB on speed two. Most people leave it on speed one overnight and forget it is there.
What does it cost to run?
Between 1.8 and 3.7 watts. Left running all year on speed one, that comes to a few euro. A dehumidifier draws around a hundred times more, and it does not bring any fresh air in.
Do I need one in every room?
No. Each unit serves one room. Most clients start with the bedroom or the room that feels worst, and add more later.
Will it damage my wall?
One clean core-drilled hole of 156 mm, with a weatherproof grille outside and a covered grille inside. Nothing is chased through your walls and no ceiling is opened.
I rent. Can I still have one?
You need your landlord's permission, because it goes through the outside wall. We are happy to explain it to them, and it usually helps that it protects the flat.
How long does it take?
One day for each room, start to finish. You do not need to move out or empty the room.
Is there a warranty?
Two years from Europlast on the unit itself, and we stand behind the installation.
